HRH Prince Salman holds talks with British PM, calls for equitable distribution of vaccines

Bahrain is looking forward to widening the horizon of bilateral ties with the United Kingdom to take it to further advanced levels, said His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The Crown Prince and Prime Minister said this during a meeting with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson at his residence at 10 Downing Street in London.
 
His Royal Highness also underlined the position of Bahrain as a gateway to the dynamic economies of the Gulf. Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Minister of Finance and National Economy, and Sheikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, the Ambassador of Bahrain to the United Kingdom, were present. During the meeting with Boris Johnson, a long-time friend, HRH Prince Salman further reviewed ways of strengthening bilateral ties to achieve common interests and goals.
 
His Royal Highness praised the vital role of the United Kingdom and its Naval support facility in the Kingdom in maintaining security and stability in the region and the importance of continuing the ties in military, trade and economy, highlighting the fruitful cooperation between the two countries in battling the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
 
Equitable vaccine distribution
 
His Royal Highness highlighted the importance of international cooperation in the equitable distribution of vaccines through COVAX as part of the global pandemic response.
 
 
Prince Salman commended the Group of Seven (G7) summit held recently, and the decision reached to confront various challenges.
 
HRH Prince Salman also expressed his support for the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) planned by the UK in Glasgow from 1 to 12 November 2021. Bahrain, His Royal Highness said, backs all efforts to strengthen international cooperation on green issues.
 
HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the British Prime Minister also discussed several other matters of regional and global interests. Boris Johnson expressed his thanks and appreciation to HRH Prince Salman for his keenness to grow the bilateral ties with Britain in various fields, which the British PM said reflects the aspirations of the people of the two friendly countries. Separately, HRH Prince Salman held talks with Charles Philip Arthur George, the Prince of Wales.
