The Kingdom of Bahrain welcomed the United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate, full and complete ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the release of hostages and exchange of prisoners, the return of civilians to their homes, and the safe distribution of humanitarian aid.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the resolution was an important step towards addressing the catastrophic humanitarian situation and to end the devastating eight-month war.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its appreciation for the US efforts in submitting and adopting this draft resolution based on the initiative of the US President Joe Biden.
The ministry called upon the international community to ensure the implementation of this resolution in its three phases; a permanent ceasefire, a complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, a launch of a major reconstruction plan, and supporting just and comprehensive peace negotiations to establish an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
