The Public Prosecution has ordered the detention of a Bahraini man for trading shrimp during the ban season.

The defendant was arrested by the Coast Guard with eight refrigerators of fresh shrimp, estimated at 300 kilograms.

As a result, he was referred to the Public Prosecution. Police investigations revealed that three boats were used for catching the shrimp, and they belonged to another individual.

A marine inspector examined the shrimp and confirmed that they were caught using bottom trawling nets (karaf ), which are prohibited during the closed season.

The Public Prosecution immediately initiated an investigation, questioning the suspect and ordering his pretrial detention. He has been charged with trading and selling shrimp during the closed season.

As part of the ongoing investigation, the Public Prosecution has also ordered the confiscation of the vehicle used in the incident and the sale of the seized shrimp at a public auction, with the proceeds deposited into the Public Prosecution’s treasury.

The Public Prosecution has issued an order for the immediate arrest of the owner of the boats.
