Bahrain keen to protect human rights: HM King

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa stated Bahrain is keen to protect human rights and ensure security for all citizens.

HM the King was speaking as he received at Sakhir Palace yesterday Shura Council member and President of the National Foundation for Human Rights (NFHR) Dr. Abdulaziz Hassan Abul and members of the foundation’s Board of Directors who submitted to him 2014 annual report.

HM the King underscored Bahrain’s commitment to international human rights covenants and laws, which, he said, is an integral part of the Kingdom’s culture, Arab identity and Islamic faith.

King Hamad pointed out Bahrain’s outstanding achievements in the human rights field, praising the NFHR report, which shed light on the foundation’s accomplishments and activities at the local and international level.

HM King lauded the efforts made to promote human rights and communicate with international organisations in utter transparency.

King Hamad commended the role of NFHR Council of Commissioners and Secretariat General to foster human rights and raise social awareness.

HM the King said the foundation has gained international reputation and respect, thanks to its work, characterised by objectivity and conformity with Bahrain’s honourable record of human rights and freedom.

King Hamad wished NFHR President and board members every success in fulfilling their national duties and consolidating human rights in Bahrain. It is to note that submission of the report was set to coincide with the international celebration of the Human Rights Day in December.
