artBahrain annual Art Prize winners announced
Al Riwaq Art Space announced the artBahrain/ The Nest Annual Art Prize yesterday. Yousif Abdul Ghani, Basma Ajoor and Samar. M are the winners. This was announced by Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, founder of artBahrain non-profit art organisation.
artBahrain/The Nest Annual Art Prize is a continuing effort from artBahrain and Al Riwaq Art Space to develop initiatives in support of local artists breaking away from the conventions of traditional art.
This joint project offers a new opportunity to discover and nurture local talent, as a creative platform for the youth and an invitation to emerging artists to define their local identity.
Ten semi-finalists have been selected by a committee formed by the organisers to work closely with a designated curator at Al Riwaq Art Space, where the chosen artists are currently benefitting from professional guidance and allotted studio space.
The finalists will be awarded the following prizes:
The First Place winner will receive a BD500 cash prize, a public exhibition of their artwork at The Nest and a competitive international residency. The Second Place winner will receive a BD250 cash prize and a public exhibition of their artwork at The Nest.
