U.S. Ambassador Steven C. Bondy hosted American and Bahraini businesses to highlight the positive impacts of the U.S.-Bahrain Free Trade Agreement and the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement on our commercial relationship.
In his remarks Ambassador Bondy said, “It’s a special pleasure to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the signing of the U.S.-Bahrain Free Trade Agreement, an effort I focused on the first time I served in Bahrain. Since the U.S.-Bahrain FTA came into force in 2006, two-way trade has expanded almost four times, from $782 million in 2005 to the high-water mark of over $3 billion in 2018. Bilateral trade volume in both 2022 and 2023 was $2.85 billion.”
Ambassador Bondy also recognized why U.S. businesses value Bahrain. “Bahrain is a great location for American companies pursuing business opportunities in the region and seeking an educated and skilled workforce. Bahrain is an easy place to do business and a welcoming environment for investors, employees, and families.”
