Digital Surge: Government online payments hit BD159 million in Q1

Online government payments have surged to an impressive 159 million dinars in the first quarter of 2024, showcasing a significant trend in digital transactions.
This follows a substantial total of 667 million dinars in electronic payments throughout 2023, according to recent statistics released by the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA).
These figures highlight the growing reliance on and trust in digital channels for government services, marking a significant shift towards more efficient and accessible public service delivery.
A breakdown of the figures reveals 611,431 financial transactions processed through various government channels in the first quarter alone.
January stood out as the busiest month, with 213,500 transactions amounting to 59.7 million dinars.
March followed closely, registering 189,400 transactions worth 49.7 million dinars, while February saw 208,400 transactions totaling 49.6 million dinars.
Additionally, the Government Services Contact Center reported handling 42,200 calls in the first quarter of 2024.
January accounted for 14,600 calls, February saw a slight increase with 14,700 calls, and March received 12,800 calls.
