The Ministry of Works has announced the commencement of a significant infrastructure project to replace and install new safety barriers on several key bridges across Bahrain. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance the safety of five critical bridges located in various governorates.

In addition to the Sehla Interchange, the project will also address the Al Jasra Intersection, the Tubli Intersection (also known as the Bahrain Map Intersection), the Wadi Al Sail Intersection Bridge, and the Umm Al Hassam Intersection. The primary goal of this undertaking is to substantially improve traffic safety and reduce the risk of accidents on these important bridges and intersections.

The Ministry of Works stressed that these activities are an essential part of their overall strategy for maintaining and upgrading the country's road network. This strategy highlights the importance of regular and proactive preventive maintenance to ensure the safety and high quality of Bahrain's roads, aligning with the government's vision of providing citizens and residents with a safe and efficient transportation infrastructure.

The project involves replacing the existing concrete barriers with new ones and installing high-containment steel barriers along the slopes of the five bridges. In total, the new safety barriers will span approximately 14 kilometres across the targeted bridge locations.

The Tender Board has awarded the contract for this project to a consortium comprising the Hajj Hassan Group and Alghanim International, two leading construction and engineering firms with extensive experience in large-scale infrastructure developments.
