Two men in the dock for human trafficking

Two Asian men had locked up a woman in an apartment, where they forced her to have sex with strangers, according to court files. They were arrested and are standing trial before the High Criminal Court, facing accusations of human trafficking.

The defendants reportedly ‘purchased’ the woman from an unknown man and later held her captive in the apartment. They compelled her to have sex with strangers in exchange of money.

She was later rescued by police following a tip-off from a Bahraini citizen, who spotted the apartment. The woman said that she was kidnapped by a man after abandoning her sponsor’s house, and he sold her. “He took me to an apartment and sold me to the first defendant for BD230, and the latter sold me to the second defendant for BD180.”

“I was taken to an apartment that was under the supervision of the first defendant, and I was subjected to physical assaults before I accepted to have sex,” she revealed. The defendants appeared yesterday before the High Criminal Court, where they pleaded not guilty.
