The construction of the main sewer line and treated wastewater line for East Sitra is progressing smoothly, in line with the planned schedule. Leading this major project is Engineer Fathi Abdulla Al Farea, the Assistant Undersecretary for Sewage Projects at the Works Ministry. He has announced that the project is now 60% complete.
This effort is part of the ministry's initiative to support new housing developments by enhancing infrastructure services to keep up with Bahrain's rapid urban growth. The project aims to provide sanitation services and treated water for irrigation and landscaping in the expanding East Sitra area.
To date, 3,308 metres of the 4,359-metre treated water line have been installed, while 823.2 metres of the 1,661-metre wastewater conveyance line have been completed.
Construction has also started on two pumping stations for treated sewage and one for wastewater to serve the East Sitra Housing Project. This includes building a 15-metre-deep pumping station, 230-metre-long pressure lines, and a 1.43-kilometre pipeline with diameters ranging from 200 mm to 900 mm.
The Works Ministry is urging citizens and residents to cooperate during the project by adhering to directional signs and following any necessary traffic diversions to ensure public safety.
The sewage infrastructure project was awarded by the Tender Board to Zohal construction company at a cost of BD 3,680,941.
