Man loses appeal in drug case

Bahraini man, who was found guilty of selling shabu, has lost his appeal in the court.

He was earlier sentenced to five years in prison along with a fine of BD1,000. According to court files, the anti-drugs department at the Ministry of Interior had been tipped off that the defendant was in possession of drugs with the intention to sell.

Following the information that the convicted man was selling shabu, the detective handling the case assigned an officer in plainclothes to catch him red-handed.

The officer contacted the Bahraini man and asked for shabu worth BD400 and they agreed to meet in Juffair. A team of police officers pounced on the defendant while he was leaving the area after selling the product around 11.30am. A subsequent search at his home found a digital scale, illegal pills, hashish and four bags containing shabu.
