Engineer Ahmed Sami Al-Tajer, Assistant Undersecretary for Roads at the Ministry of Works, announced that the second entrance of the East Hidd Housing Project is now 74% complete.

He explained that the project aims to improve traffic distribution across the project's exits and connect it to the main road network. It is also designed to increase the carrying capacity and enhance traffic flow, facilitating quicker access for residents to their homes.

Al-Tajer emphasised the Ministry's focus on integrating infrastructure in new housing city projects by providing essential services and development projects for citizens, ensuring smooth transportation for road users amid urban development.

The Assistant Undersecretary for Roads detailed that the project involves constructing a two-lane road in each direction, linking Dry Dock Highway with the internal road network of the East Hidd Housing Project (Street No. 23).

Engineer Al-Tajer further outlined that the project includes building a roundabout to serve the internal roads of the East Hidd Housing Project, reclaiming and covering the 50-metre-wide water canal, constructing a rainwater drainage network, and establishing a station to pump rainwater into the sea. Additionally, lighting poles will be installed, and necessary traffic signs will be placed.

The Tender Board awarded the project to Sayed Kadhem Aldurazi & Sons, at a cost of 5,002,717.298 Bahraini dinars.

It is notable that the Ministry of Public Works previously completed the first phase of the project, which involved expanding the Al-Hidd housing crossing to two lanes in each direction and improving the intersection of Hatim Al Taie Avenue with Dry Dock Highway.

This allowed two lanes to turn left for those heading to the housing project and areas north of Muharraq towards the Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman bridge. Street widening works were also completed to provide a free lane leading to East Hidd Housing for those coming from the Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Bridge, and two free lanes for the same entrance for those coming from northern Muharraq towards the east.
