Bahrain's Ambassador to Iraq, Khalid Al Mansour, has denied reports that the Kingdom's consulate building in Najaf was damaged in a fire that broke out near the complex housing the consulate.
In a statement to our sister newspaper "Al Ayam", Ambassador Al Mansour clarified that the fire, which occurred on Thursday evening in a trailer parked near the Zamzam Complex in Najaf (southern Iraq), did not cause any damage to the consulate building. The fire was also brought under control promptly, he revealed.
The ambassador pointed out that the trailer where the fire broke out was approximately 50 meters away from the complex housing the consulate. "No human or material damage was reported at the complex," he stated.
It's worth noting that a limited fire had erupted in a trailer used for security guards at the Zamzam Complex, which houses a hotel and the Kingdom's consulate in Najaf. The Bahraini embassy in Baghdad has been in contact with the Iraqi authorities to follow up on the incident and ensure the safety of the consulate staff and the building.
