The Head of the Public Prosecution Office for Ministries and Public Entities has announced that the Lower Criminal Court has sentenced a Bahraini defendant to three months imprisonment with immediate effect and confiscation of the seized goods, for selling and trading prawns during the closed season.

The details of the incident stem from the Public Prosecution receiving a report from the Coast Guard Command stating that a Bahraini defendant was found in possession of eight cool boxes containing 300 kilograms of fresh prawns in his vehicle.

The Public Prosecution immediately commenced investigations upon being notified of the incident, interrogating the defendant who admitted to selling and trading prawns during the closed season. The Public Prosecution referred the imprisoned defendant for criminal trial, where the aforementioned judgement was issued.
