The National Bureau of Revenue (NBR) has expressed its determination to improve the level of compliance among commercial establishments, ensuring adherence to all relevant systems and legislation, including the digital stamp system.

The Bureau conducted 296 inspection visits across local markets in various governorates of the Kingdom of Bahrain during April and May of this year.

These efforts aim to safeguard consumer rights and combat tax evasion, while also raising awareness about the necessary procedures to follow.

The Bureau reported that effective market monitoring has led to the identification of several establishments violating laws related to value-added tax and selectivity.

A total of 69 violations were identified, resulting in administrative fines.

These breaches included failing to issue proper value-added invoices, not displaying commodity prices inclusive of value-added tax, and not prominently displaying the value-added certificate.

Additionally, some selective goods were found to be traded without valid digital stamps.
