Traffic Congestion in Umm Al Hassam due to food outlets

LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Iam writing to draw attention to a significant issue that has been affecting the residents and commuters in the Umalhasam area of Bahrain.

The recent increase in the number of food outlets in the locality has led to severe traffic congestion, causing daily inconvenience and posing safety risks.

The popularity of these food outlets has resulted in a high volume of vehicles, particularly during peak hours.

residents frequently park their cars on both sides of the already narrow roads, leaving minimal space for moving traffic.

This congestion is exacerbated by delivery vehicles and customers waiting to pick up their orders, creating bottlenecks and often leading to gridlock.

Moreover, the lack of designated parking spaces for these food outlets means that drivers are often forced to double-park, further obstructing the flow of traffic.

The situation is particularly dire during the evening and weekends when the influx of customers reaches its peak.

Pedestrians, including families and children, are also at risk as they navigate through the crowded and chaotic streets.

In addition to this, a few well-known hangouts have started disturbing the public by encroaching on the path and setting up tables and chairs for their customers.

I urge the food outlets to collaborate with the authorities to find mutually beneficial solutions that can alleviate the congestion while allowing their businesses to thrive.

In conclusion, while the growth of food outlets in Umalhasam is a positive sign of economic activity, it is essential to balance this with the need for smooth and safe traffic flow.
