The Minister highlighted the significant progress made in combating drug abuse, citing the seizure of 2,285 drug-related cases between the beginning of 2023 and mid-2024. He stressed the importance of maintaining security readiness, leveraging modern technologies like artificial intelligence, and fostering strong community partnerships.

The Minister also praised the positive outcomes achieved through the “Ta’afi” (Recovery) programme and the community outreach efforts of the Police Community Service through the “Together” (Ma’an) programme, which addresses violence and addiction.

He acknowledged that while lectures are important, innovative approaches, modern tools, and effective methods are needed to deliver awareness messages. He also stressed the importance of early intervention and guidance within a comprehensive security awareness framework, which forms the foundation of prevention.

Moreover, the Minister stressed the need to continue combating drug abuse in schools, youth centres, sports clubs, and cyberspace, relying on knowledge, conviction, and parental and national responsibility to create a safe environment conducive to a dignified life.

From his side, the Director General of Criminal Investigations and Forensic Evidence expressed his sincere gratitude to the Minister for his unwavering support for the Anti-Narcotics Directorate, enabling it to effectively fulfill its role within the national efforts to protect society and safeguard youth from the dangers of this scourge.
