Social media posts on the notice that went viral say that this notice is hard to miss when entering the bakery.

This discussion comes amid controversy surrounding recent flour price hikes by the Bahrain Flour Mills Company, with parliamentary intervention and a moratorium adding to the mix.

The bakery poses the question: “Because your opinion matters... with the price of flour nearly doubling, would you prefer reduced quality at the old price, or maintain the same quality with a price increase?”

Experts point out that this highlights the dilemma facing local bakeries following significant price increases by the country’s primary flour supplier.

Initially proposed price hikes reached up to 100% for some products, prompting public outcry and subsequent government intervention that temporarily halted the increases.

Local bakeries say they now face the challenge of preparing for the decision that will come at the end of the three-month moratorium period.

Many bakeries are actively seeking customer feedback through surveys that ask customers to choose between accepting a price increase or accepting reduced product quality.

The outcome of this threemonth postponement will be crucial in assessing the longterm impacts of the price hikes and in finding solutions that address the concerns of both consumers and businesses.
