Manama, Bahrain - The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) recently released its quarterly activity report, highlighting a significant increase in inspection campaigns and visits alongside rising employer compliance rates.

Nibras Mohammed Talib, CEO of LMRA, presented the report which detailed a nearly 26% surge in joint inspection efforts with the Ministry of Interior compared to the same period in 2023 (January 1st to June 20th, 2024). Joint campaigns rose from 306 to 358, while inspection visits jumped from approximately 20,000 to 25,200.

"These figures reflect our commitment to working closely with the Ministry of Interior to ensure compliance with labour laws and regulations," stated Mr. Talib. "By monitoring commercial markets and labour gathering places, we can create a productive and competitive labour market that benefits both employers and employees."

The report also boasted a significant rise in employer compliance rates, reaching a commendable 97.5%. This suggests an increased awareness of regulations and the effectiveness of the enforcement measures put in place by LMRA.

Beyond inspection efforts, Mr. Talib also shed light on LMRA's strategic goals and priority projects for 2024. He discussed the latest developments in the Wage Protection System, a collaborative effort with the private sector, aimed at ensuring timely and fair compensation for workers. Additionally, he outlined initiatives to streamline procedures and improve services for business owners, with a focus on enhancing efficiency and work quality.

This emphasis on collaboration and streamlining processes suggests LMRA's commitment to fostering a more transparent and efficient labour market for all stakeholders in Bahrain.
