Seventeen decisions have been recently issued to acquire real estate in the Janabiya area by H.E. Eng. Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture. This acquisition serves the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, marking a significant advance for the planned Gulf railway and King Hamad Causeway project, thereby paving the way for its progress.
This announcement follows the Secretariat General of the Gulf Cooperation Council's (GCC) tender launch in early June, inviting specialised companies to study the operational plan for the GCC railway project. Specifications are available to applicants, with submissions due by 7th July in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and the tender envelopes will be opened a month later.
The expropriation decisions in Janabiya form part of a broader set of 137 decisions published in the Official Gazette on 27th June 2024. Covering various regions in Bahrain, these decisions constitute the largest number of expropriations announced by the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture this year.
Ramli area sees the highest number of expropriations, followed by Nuwaidrat and Muharraq. These expropriations are primarily intended for the development of detailed plans for regions including Ramli, South Nuwaidrat, and Jurdab. Additionally, properties have been acquired for urban renewal projects in Muharraq Governorate.
The acquisition of land in Janabiya and the launch of the operational plan study affirm the project's momentum and its potential to enhance regional connectivity and economic integration.
