MP Mohammed Al-Maarafi praised Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior for significant advancements in reformation and rehabilitation, both locally and globally. He credited these achievements to His Excellency Lt-General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Minister of Interior.
In a recent statement, AlMaarafi highlighted impactful directives issued by the Minister, emphasizing his commitment to improving the reformation and rehabilitation environment across affiliated centers.
One notable directive ensures inmates receive a minimum of two hours daily for sports activities, supported by appropriate facilities, equipment, and resources.
Additionally, inmates now have access to specialized dietary guidance from the center’s medical clinic.
“These measures, alongside initiatives like alternative punishments and open prisons, position Bahrain at the forefront of human rights advancement,” noted Al-Maarafi.
He underscored the positive impact on inmates, their families, and society at large.
Al-Maarafi also disclosed that the General Directorate of Reformation and Rehabilitation is pursuing international accreditation from the American Correctional Association (ACA).
