The Consumer Protection Directorate at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce has signed three service level agreements between the ministry and the commercial sector to address consumer complaints from citizens and residents in Bahrain.

Shaikh Hamad bin Salman Al Khalifa, Assistant Undersecretary for Domestic and Foreign Trade at the ministry, said that the signing of these agreements is a part of the operational and development plan of the directorate, following the signing of the three Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) last year with Lulu Hypermarket, Talabat, and Extra, which expanded this year to include Ramez, Jahez and Just Clean Internet Services.

Shaikh Hamad bin Salman underscored the directorates’ commitment to enhancing the quality and efficiency of services by harnessing modern technologies and utilising partnerships with the commercial sector. The agreement also includes terms and conditions under which the two signatory parties will provide services to consumers, by setting the foundations and framework for providing high quality services, following Law (935) of 2012 on consumer protection and its executive regulations.

He emphasised that this step aims to obtain a mutual agreement between the government sector and the commercial sector to ensure the provision of distinguished services to consumers by directing, resolving, and addressing complaints received before the expiry of the period specified in the service level agreement, while defining responsibilities, duties, and obligations of both parties and achieving common goals and enhancing mutual trust.
