The Southern Municipality, as part of its ongoing safety awareness campaigns, conducted a comprehensive inspection campaign in Isa Town's popular market. The campaign, carried out in collaboration with the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), Civil Defence, and the municipality's inspection and market departments, aimed to ensure compliance with safety and security regulations in commercial establishments.
The inspection team, comprising representatives from all participating entities, meticulously examined electrical wiring in each shop, ensuring adherence to the EWA's safety standards. They also verified the presence of fire extinguishers and alarm systems, crucial for fire prevention and response.
The campaign focused on identifying compliant businesses and issuing warnings to those in violation of safety regulations. The municipality, in line with its established procedures, has already installed fire sensors in the market as part of its proactive safety plan for all markets and commercial establishments.
The campaign aims to educate shop owners about the importance of adhering to safety regulations and laws to prevent electrical hazards and fires, especially during the summer months when temperatures rise.
The Southern Municipality regularly conducts awareness and guidance campaigns as part of its comprehensive plan to emphasise the importance of adhering to municipal standards and regulations. These efforts aim to curb violations that detract from the aesthetic appeal of the area and ensure the safety of both vendors and market patrons.
