Khalifa Bin Salman Port processed 37,387 containers in June 2024, as reported by the Ports and Maritime Affairs (PMA) department of the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunication. These containers carried a combined total of 18,145 tonnes of goods.
Container traffic at the port experienced a 3.8% increase compared to May 2024, when 35,995 containers were handled. Additionally, 3,145 vehicles arrived at the port in June, and 58 ships docked at Khalifa Bin Salman Port during the month.
The ministry further indicated that 18 commercial licences and 16 inspection licences were issued, along with 202 ship departure licences.
In cargo handling, the port managed 992,047,407 tonnes of solid goods and 2,230,013,818 tonnes of liquid goods during June.
The ministry remarked that ships can now register and renew their certificates and licences through an automated system, with the option to pay fees digitally. This development streamlines the process for maritime operators.
PMA supervises maritime operations in the Kingdom's ports, offering the necessary assistance and support to both public and private port operators.
The PMA also oversees maritime activities in the Kingdom's territorial waters, ensuring the safety of ship movements. The department is tasked with registering ships under the Bahraini flag and issuing the requisite certificates.
