The Public Prosecution, in collaboration with various government ministries and agencies, has launched a national awareness campaign to protect children from exploitation and cyber extortion.

The national awareness campaign is scheduled to run until the end of 2024, aiming to educate children, parents, and the public about the dangers of cyber exploitation and extortion.

The campaign was inaugurated with the presence of senior officials from the participating ministries, including the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf, and Ministry of Information.

In his speech, Attorney General Dr. Ali bin Fadl Al Buainain said the campaign aims to monitor the causes and practices leading to crimes against children, analyse their impact, and identify ways to address these issues.

Minister of Social Development Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al Asfoor stressed the importance of community partnership in raising awareness among children and families about safety and security.

Minister of Education Dr. Mohammed Juma praised the collaboration between his ministry and the organising bodies.

Lt-General Tariq Al-Hassan, Chief of Public Security, acknowledged the widespread use of cyberspace and the corresponding risks and threats it poses, particularly to children.
