Bahrain calls for enhanced economic ties at Marrakech Parliamentary Forum

Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, led a parliamentary delegation at the Marrakech Parliamentary Economic Forum for the Euro Mediterranean and Gulf region. During his address, Speaker Ahmed bin Salman praised the robust bilateral relations between Bahrain and Morocco, extending congratulations to Morocco on the upcoming anniversary of His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s accession.
Highlighting Bahrain’s commitment to environmental sustainability and climate goals, Speaker Ahmed bin Salman outlined ambitious targets, including a 30% reduction in emissions by 2035 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2060. He underscored Bahrain’s support for entrepreneurship, particularly in bolstering small and medium enterprises, as integral to its Economic Vision 2030.
Noting Bahrain’s improved ranking in the 2024 World Competitiveness Index, he highlighted the Kingdom’s strides in creating an attractive investment climate and fostering robust public-private partnerships.
Addressing the Marrakech forum, the Speaker advocated for backing Bahrain’s proposal for an international peace conference, recently announced at the 33rd Arab Summit. He emphasized the forum’s pivotal role as a platform for political dialogue and collaboration, stressing the Mediterranean and Gulf regions’ potential in terms of natural and human resources.
He urged for enhanced economic parliamentary diplomacy to achieve sustainable economic solutions and forge strategic partnerships, particularly emphasizing the imperative of accelerating clean hydrogen production for longterm energy security
