A Bahraini national, sentenced to life imprisonment by the High Criminal Court for the murder of a cold store worker during a robbery, has filed an appeal against the verdict.

The Appeals Court is set to hear the challenge today. Police reported that the brutal murder occurred when the suspect attempted to flee the scene after stealing items from the cold store.

According to the victim's brother, the suspect was a regular customer and known troublemaker who frequently attempted to steal without paying.

The brother recounted that on the day of the incident, the suspect stole several items from the store and left.

As he was making his way out, the suspect forcibly punched the store worker on his worker, causing him to fall unconscious to the ground.

“He attacked my brother after stealing items, leaving him critically injured as he fled the scene,” the brother said. Eyewitnesses described the brother’s distress upon discovering his sibling collapsed outside the store.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Security camera footage from a nearby residence captured the suspect striking the victim in the face, which led to the worker’s fall and subsequent unconsciousness.

Police records revealed the suspect’s history of thefts and assaults at other shops. Prior to the trial, a committee examined the defendant to determine his mental fitness, and it was confirmed that he was mentally competent at the time of the incident.
