In today’s digital age, children are among the most avid users of a vast array of computer programmes and applications.

This, unfortunately, sets them up for encountering inappropriate content, leading to serious negative consequences, including psychological and health issues. These alarming problems spring from cyberbullying and growing threats to blackmail, grooming, and other cybercrimes.

To tackle these concerns, the Child Protection in Cyberspace Unit of the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security is tasked with protecting and educating children about the dangers they face online.

The unit keeps up with the rapid digital advancements happening globally, implementing measures to safeguard children from falling victim to online crimes, whether they are victims or accused.

The unit receives reports of any misuse of programmes, applications, and platforms targeting children online.

It then sets off legal procedures regarding these reports and refers them to the appropriate authorities, such as the Family and Children’s Prosecution.

Furthermore, the unit collaborates with local, regional, and international child protection agencies, promoting awareness to encourage children and parents to make optimal and responsible use of digital tools.
