Social Welfare Programmes See Increase in Beneficiaries in Bahrain

Recent statistics released by the Ministry of Social Development reveal an increase in the number of beneficiaries receiving certain social assistance programs. Notably, the Meat Allowance programme saw an addition of 993 families, while the Disability Allowance programme welcomed 175 new recipients.
According to statistics published on the Ministry's website, the number of families benefiting from the Meat Allowance programme between July 1st and September 30th, 2024, reached 185,807. This represents an increase of 993 families compared to the 184,814 families receiving the allowance in the second quarter of the year.
The statistics also show that 132,947 families received the Cost of Living Allowance, compared to 133,540 families in the second quarter of 2024.
The Ministry of Social Development reported 175 new beneficiaries for the Disability Allowance, bringing the total number of recipients to 14,413 in July, compared to 14,238 in the second quarter.
The same statistics indicate that there are currently 674 licensed non-governmental organisations operating in Bahrain.
