The High Criminal Court continued its hearing in the case of several Asian women accused of human trafficking.
All defendants denied the charges against them, with the first defendant stating she had never seen the victims before.
The Public Prosecution, following its investigation into the alleged human trafficking ring, has referred the case to the Criminal Court.
The investigation was initiated after the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking received a report from the Anti-Human Trafficking Department alleging the defendants were involved in trafficking the victims.
The report claimed the defendants forced the victims into illegal activities and exploited them for immoral purposes, profiting from their actions.
The Public Prosecution immediately began its investigation upon receiving the report.
They took statements from the victims and, as per standard procedure in such cases, placed them in the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking’s shelter.
The defendants were interrogated, and police investigations were conducted, confirming the allegations.
The Public Prosecutor, after reviewing the evidence gathered against the defendants, decided to refer the case to the Criminal Court for trial.
