HRH the Deputy King attends the eighth edition of the Prime Minister’s Award for Journalism

The Deputy King, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, today attended the eighth edition of the Prime Minister’s Award for Journalism, held under his patronage.
The event coincides with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s Silver Jubilee, which marks 25 years since HM the King’s accession to the throne.
During the ceremony, HRH the Deputy King highlighted that the press is a major partner of the Kingdom’s comprehensive development, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
His Royal Highness outlined the importance of the press in upholding the principles of credibility, responsibility, and integrity in conveying constructive and objective messaging across many societal issues.
HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad went on to note the integral role of the press in raising public awareness in an honest and responsible manner as well as in building discourse and knowledge that aids overall progress and development.
His Royal Highness emphasised that the Kingdom’s wide-ranging achievements highlighted by the national press continue to build on further successes and provide an incentive for future generations to excel and participate in the Kingdom’s ongoing progress.
HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad then presented the awards and extended his congratulations to the winners, wishing them success in their professional careers.
His Royal Highness commended the broad participation witnessed across the different award categories, noting the originality and creativity of the photography and journalism submissions.
HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad further noted the participation of journalism and media students in this year’s Awards, which reflects the determination and competition of students in the field. In this regard, His Royal Highness lauded the relentless efforts and dedication of the Kingdom’s media professionals in furthering the profession in line with the Kingdom’s far-reaching goals.
The Minister of Information Affairs, HE Dr Ramzan bin Abdulla Al Nuaimi, extended his gratitude to His Royal Highness for sponsoring the Award ceremony and honouring its winners.
HE Dr Al Nuaimi went on to highlight the unwavering support received by the Kingdom’s national media professionals from His Majesty the King and HRH the Deputy King, on behalf of the responsible freedom of expression, which is a fundamental component of development.
HE Dr Al Nuaimi noted that the eighth eiditon of the Prime Minister's Award for Journalism coincides with the selection of Manama as the 2024 Capital of Arab Media.
HE Dr Al Nuaimi then extended his congratulations to the winners of the Awards and wished them success in their future endeavours as partners of the Kingdom's progress and development.
For their part, the winners of the eighth edition of the Prime Minister’s Award for Journalism expressed their gratitude and appreciation for His Royal Highness’ continued support of the Kingdom’s media professionals and institutions. They further expressed their honour in being recognised for their work, which will enrich their media and professional careers.
Several senior officials, journalists, and media professionals also attended the ceremony.
HRH the Deputy King awarded the following media professionals:
* The Editor-in-Chief of Akhbar Al Khaleej, Mr Anwar Abdulrahman, was awarded the Journalist of the Year Award.
The author Noora Al Faihani from Al Watan News was awarded the Best Opinion Column Award.
The journalist Ali Al Muhafdha from Al Bilad Press was awarded the Best Investigative Report Award.
The journalist Ayman Ahmed Ali from Al Watan News was awarded the Best Interview Award.
The photographer Ahmed Ebrahim AlDaisi from Bahrain News Agency and the photographer Ayman Ali Yaqoob from Al Bilad Press were jointly awarded the Best Press Photo Award.
Mr Rashid Nabeel Al Hamar from Al Ayam Newspaper was awarded the Best Website or Social Media Account Award.
The journalist Ahmed Jaber Fardan from The Gulf Daily News was awarded the Best Visual Content Award.
Mr Ali Hujairi from Al Ayam Newspaper and Mr Ismail Al Saggay from Al Bilad Press were jointly awarded the Best Infographic Award.
The journalist Mr Sayyed Ahmed Redha of the 'Roa' feature publication from Al Ayam Newspaper was awarded the Best Specialised Feature Award.
Students heading the project "Ahlia Newspaper" at the Media and Public Relations Department of Ahlia University were awarded the Best Student Journalism Project Award.
