Compensation will soon be distributed to those impacted by the recent rains, according to MP Hanan Fardan. She confirmed receiving assurances from the government and stated she is actively monitoring the situation and addressing complaints from affected individuals about the timing of the compensation.

Fardan criticised the Ministry of Works for not making good on its promises to disburse compensation to those affected by the unprecedented rains in April, which led to considerable disappointment among the public. “The directives from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, are explicit in mitigating the damage caused by accumulated rainwater, compensating those affected, and shoring up infrastructure in the impacted areas.” She emphasised

Fardan explained that the Ministry of Works’ Damage Assessment Committee used several criteria to determine compensation, primarily focusing on damages from rainwater accumulation. The compensation amount is assessed based on the severity of the damage. She pointed out that this year’s rain-related damage is more severe than in previous years, affecting a higher number of homes.

She stressed the urgency of prioritising infrastructure improvements in the most affected areas, such as Al Lawzi, Malkiya, and the farms area in Damistan, along with other parts of Bahrain.
