Man Sentenced to 3 Years for Assault After Buffet Line Dispute

A 39-year-old GCC man has been sentenced to three years in prison and ordered to pay 5,000 dinars in compensation to the victim after he was found guilty of assault. The incident occurred at a hotel buffet where the man, along with others, attacked the victim who had been asked to wait in line.
The victim was enjoying breakfast at the hotel buffet when he was asked by a hotel staff member to join the line and not skip ahead. Shortly after, the man approached the victim and began verbally abusing him. The victim responded with insults, prompting the man to physically assault him. The man was joined by others, including the defendant, who used a stick to hit the victim on the head.
The hotel security intervened and separated the attackers from the victim. The victim, who sustained injuries that resulted in a 20% permanent disability, was taken to the hospital by a bystander.
The Public Prosecution charged the defendant with assault and causing permanent disability.
