A cafeteria has been shut down, and various violations have been recorded against some establishments in a sweeping inspection campaign targeting restaurants, bakeries, and shops in the ninth district of the Northern Governorate. This operation involved multiple agencies, including the Northern Area Municipality, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the Public Health Directorate, the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs, the Electricity and Water Authority, and the Police of Northern Governorate.
Abdullah Mubarak, the representative of the ninth district in the Northern Municipal Council, revealed that the primary result of the inspection was the closure of a cafeteria by the Ministry of Health. The cafeteria was found to be falling short of both cleanliness and health standards, and it also had improper electrical installations.
Mubarak further explained that during the inspections, some workers were found to be adhering to regulations. However, the Northern Area Municipality issued citations to certain shops for violating Law No. (2) of 1996, which prohibits leaving movable items outside shops, factories, warehouses, or homes except for the brief period necessary for loading or unloading, ensuring that traffic is not obstructed.
Additionally, some shops were deemed unsuitable for commercial activities and received warnings to address these issues promptly.
Looking ahead, Mubarak mentioned that the municipal council, in coordination with executive agencies, plans to conduct further field inspections. These will focus on ensuring the cleanliness of restaurants, monitoring the prices and quality of bakery products to protect consumers, and verifying that all establishments meet the necessary standards and conditions to operate effectively in the public interest. He commended the participation and cooperation of various entities for the benefit of the nation and its citizens.
