Three Men Arrested in Major Drug Trafficking Ring Bust

The High Criminal Court has begun hearing a case involving a drug trafficking ring, with three men, including two brothers, facing charges. The accused are in their 30s and 20s.

The Public Prosecution has charged the first defendant, a 36-year-old man, with importing, possessing, and selling cannabis without legal authorization. He is also accused of possessing hashish for personal use. The second defendant, his 31-year-old brother, and the third defendant, a 22-year-old man, are charged with possessing hashish and psychoactive substances for personal use.

During the initial hearing, the first and second defendants appeared in court. The first defendant admitted to using drugs but denied selling them. The second defendant confessed to drug use. The court has scheduled a session on 30th July 2024 for further investigation and response. The first and second defendants remain in custody, while the third defendant is required to attend the hearing.

The case stems from the arrest of the defendants at King Fahd Causeway. Upon searching them, authorities found plastic containers carrying a liquid substance believed to be illicit drugs. Further investigation revealed a drug trafficking network headed by the first defendant.

Information indicated that the first and second defendants were involved in smuggling drugs. When questioned, the defendants, who were in an altered state, denied any involvement.

A search of the first defendant revealed a plastic container suspected of storing cannabis weighing 8.4 grams in his right pants pocket.

A search of the third defendant's bag yielded two tablets believed to be prohibited, an electronic shisha suspected of housing cannabis weighing 90.1 grams, and eight plastic containers suspected of containing cannabis weighing 1236.3 grams hidden in a travel bag in the boot of the vehicle.

Additionally, three plastic containers suspected of holding cannabis weighing 238.9 grams were found in the drawer between the front seats, and three plastic containers suspected of concealing cannabis weighing 84.3 grams were found in the driver's door pocket. Prohibited tablets were also found on the back seat.

Six empty plastic containers believed to be used for packaging cannabis and a plastic piece suspected of storing cannabis weighing 7.8 grams were found in the boot in a blue nylon bag.

During the Public Prosecution investigation, the first defendant admitted to using drugs and acknowledged that the seized items belonged to him. The second and third defendants also admitted to drug use during the investigation.

A report from the Toxicology and Drugs Laboratory at the Department of Forensic Evidence confirmed that the seized items contained cannabis.
