A delegation from Bahrain's Parliamentary Group, led by Mr Abdulrahman Mohamed Jamsheer of the Shura Council's Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee, and Mr Khalid Saleh BuAnaq of the Council of Representatives, participated in the GCC's Coordination and Foreign Relations Committee at the 18th meeting of the GCC's Parliamentary Coordination and Foreign Relations Committee, held via video conference on Thursday.
During the meeting, the committee reviewed a memorandum from the General Secretariat on enhancing cooperation with the parliaments of Latin America and the Caribbean. They also discussed a memorandum on strengthening parliamentary relations between the GCC and the European Parliament. The agenda included a proposal to hold coordination meetings at international parliamentary forums.
Additionally, the agenda proposed increasing the frequency of GCC parliamentary meetings to exchange expertise among the Shura, Representatives, National, and Ummah Councils of the GCC states. The aim is to improve cooperation mechanisms between the councils by holding seminars and conferences on topics of mutual interest and arranging exchange visits among council members, based on an annual programme prepared by the GCC General Secretariat in coordination with member states.
The meeting saw the attendance of several representatives from the legislative councils of the GCC states, general secretaries or their deputies, and representatives from the GCC General Secretariat.
