Urgent road infrastructure projects are in progress, as announced on the official website of The Ministry of Works. These efforts aim to alleviate traffic congestion across all governorates, with the ministry currently advancing the third and fourth phases of these initiatives.
The third phase involves two key undertakings. The first is the addition of a third lane in each direction on Mahzoora Avenue, spanning from Umm Al Naasan Avenue to its junction with Avenue 37. The second focuses on the enhancement of the Shaikh Jaber A. Al Subah Highway intersection with Avenue 1, extending to Umm Al Saad Avenue.
The fourth phase comprises four undertakings. The first pertains to the enhancement of Avenue 77, from Avenue 47 to Road 4566 in Sanad. The second addresses improvements to Bahrain Youth Avenue in the Educational Area. The third involves the development of Mahzoora Avenue in Riffa, between Road 3933 and Estiqlal Highway. The fourth centres on the intersection of Avenue 20 with Road 2651 in Busaiteen.
The Ministry clarified that these projects aim to ease traffic congestion on various streets and intersections, catering to the needs of citizens on all major roads. This effort forms part of a broader strategic plan for the road network, which includes the construction of tunnels, bridges, and the expansion of main roads. Typically requiring two to five years for completion, these projects are designed to accommodate urban growth and the increasing number of vehicles. They offer solutions to traffic issues, improve the efficiency of road networks, elevate performance levels, and ensure traffic safety. These initiatives also align with housing and investment projects in the Kingdom.
