Work has kicked off on the road linking Hunainyah Avenue and Al Muaskar Highway in the Southern Governorate, according to Engineer Ahmed AlTajir, Assistant Undersecretary for Roads at the Ministry of Works. This initiative is part of a broader effort to improve Bahrain's road network, ensuring smoother traffic flow in alignment with the Government Programme (2023-2026), aimed at benefiting the nation and its citizens.

AlTajir explained that the project involves constructing a dual carriageway, spanning 3.4 km, connecting Hunainiyah Avenue from the north to Al Muaskar Highway in the south. The plan includes developing intersections, providing side pavements, establishing a rainwater drainage network, enhancing lighting, and implementing traffic safety measures. Additionally, a treated water line for landscaping and irrigation will be installed.

He added that the project aims to provide additional access points for those heading to Hunainiya, East Riffa, and surrounding areas, thereby easing off congestion in the region. The road will serve residents of the Hunainiyah housing project and various service institutions in the area.

The project has been awarded by the Tender Board to Al Door Excavation & Building Contracting.
