The House of Representatives is set to discuss a proposal during its upcoming session that calls on the Labour Fund "Tamkeen" to develop new programs aimed at supporting business continuity and growth for all commercial registries.
The proposal, submitted by MPs Jaleela Al Alawai, Hisham Al Asheri, Najeeb Al Kawari, Mohsen Al Asbool, and Mohammed Janahi, highlights the challenges faced by emerging businesses in securing commercial loans. The memorandum accompanying the proposal states, "It has become apparent that commercial banks have a limited list of approved companies, making it difficult for startups to obtain commercial credit facilities, hindering their growth or delaying it. Therefore, we propose that the Labour Fund develop new programmes to support business continuity and growth for all commercial registries."
The proposal, which was referred to the Services Committee by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Al Musallam, seeks to address the concerns of emerging businesses by providing them with the necessary support to overcome financial barriers and thrive in the Bahraini market.
