The Janabiya Highway project is nearing completion, with progress exceeding 90%, according to Shaikh Meshaal Al-Khalifa, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Works. He emphasised the ministry's resolve to continue accelerating the work to finish it on schedule.
This update was shared during an inspection visit by the Undersecretary and several ministry engineers. He noted that the project is part of the third phase of a broader initiative to improve access to Salman City and upgrade the adjacent road network, thereby enhancing the highway's capacity.
The project involves expanding the highway to three lanes in each direction over approximately 4 kilometres and upgrading traffic intersections to handle 10,500 vehicles per hour.
Additionally, Eng. Shaikh Meshaal Al-Khalifa mentioned that the work includes relocating and protecting services along the highway, reconstructing infrastructure, establishing a rainwater drainage network, creating service roads and parking spaces, and boosting safety measures with traffic barriers, road signs, and warnings, along with some aesthetic improvements.
The project contract was awarded by the Tender Board to Haji Hassan Group.
