Bahrain’s ePassport Wins Red Dot Award

The Kingdom of Bahrain's ePassport has been honoured with the 2024 Red Dot Award for Design, with the ceremony to be held in Berlin on 1 November 2024. This distinction is regarded as one of the foremost accolades in global design competitions, representing esteemed international recognition of quality standards in design.

On this occasion, His Excellency Sheikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence at the Interior Ministry, expressed pride in this high-level recognition.

He affirmed that it is an international honour for the Kingdom of Bahrain during the prosperous reign of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He acknowledged the prudent directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for the development of Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs services, and appreciated the continuous support of His Excellency General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, which has contributed to these achievements and global awards.

He affirmed that this triumph is a global achievement reflecting the excellence of Bahrain's ePassport in terms of design aesthetics and security features, employing the latest technologies in identity documents. It also illustrates Bahrain's dedication to providing superior services.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Nationality, Passports, and Residence Affairs extended his gratitude and appreciation to the ePassport team and everyone who contributed to this success, emphasising the importance of continuing to improve all services provided.

The award was won among submissions from a wide array of companies and design studios worldwide. Bahrain's ePassport was awarded the "Best of the Best" by the jury, in line with the organising company's slogan "Winning is Just the Beginning".

Professor Dr Peter Zec, founder and CEO of Red Dot, sent a message to the design team expressing his congratulations on the award, noting that it reflects the quality and distinctiveness of the design. He remarked that the jury award is characterised by unique design and creative performance.

The project is set to be published in the "International Yearbook Brands & Communication Design" and featured in the winners' section on www.red-dot.org and other exhibitions, ensuring it receives the recognition and attention it deserves.
