A delegation from the Parliamentary Group attending the “Sixteenth Workshop of Parliamentary Scholars and Parliamentarians” at Wroxton College in the United Kingdom has affirmed Bahrain's aim to promote international cooperation in all its forms. They emphasised the importance of enhancing parliamentary diplomacy and leveraging artificial intelligence in parliamentary activities.

They stressed the necessity of unifying efforts towards integration and mutual coordination with various parliaments to achieve shared global objectives and improve the knowledge and expertise of parliament members.

The workshop sessions, organised jointly by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Centre for Legislative Studies at the University of Hull, took place from 27 to 28 July. The Bahraini Parliamentary Group delegation was led by HE Leena Habib Kassim, a member of the Shura Council, and included MP Hassan Ebrahim Hassan.

Leena Kassim, leading the delegation, highlighted the crucial role of international cooperation in legislative work, viewing it as essential for building distinguished relationships between national parliaments based on mutual respect and collaboration.

She lauded the efforts of parliamentary and academic institutions in holding joint meetings, which facilitate the exchange of parliamentary experiences and discussions on globally important issues, thereby supporting specialised legislative research and positively impacting the performance of legislators.

She explained that parliaments play an active role on the international stage through visits, meetings, workshops, and parliamentary sessions, which the Inter-Parliamentary Union regularly organises among parliamentarians and academics to promote parliamentary diplomacy and exchange expertise. She noted the academic research and studies on parliamentary matters discussed during the sessions and the interest shown by academics and researchers in Bahrain's legislative experience.

MP Hassan Ebrahim Hassan, a member of the delegation, stated that Bahrain has achieved considerable progress in parliamentary diplomacy both regionally and globally, thanks to the continuous support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who strives for the nation's advancement and enhanced stature.

He added that Bahraini diplomacy consistently seeks to build bridges of cooperation and forge relationships with various Arab and international parliaments to gain more experience and support legislative work. Furthermore, it focuses on advancing parliamentary work and the use of digital technology and artificial intelligence to achieve the best outcomes and greater accomplishments in all areas.
