TThe Bahraini Embassy in Damascus has received calls from Bahraini citizens requesting to leave Lebanon, prompting the embassy to activate its plans to facilitate their return, confirmed Wahid Mubarak Sayyar, Bahrain's ambassador to Syria. While some citizens have expressed their desire to remain in Lebanon, the embassy has confirmed that it is fully prepared to assist those wishing to return home.

Ambassador Sayyar stated that the number of Bahraini citizens currently in Lebanon is very small, with the majority being students. He explained that the return of citizens wishing to leave will be facilitated through Beirut's Rafic Hariri International Airport.

In the event that all flights are suspended at Beirut airport, the embassy will arrange for their return by land to Syria and then by air to Bahrain via Damascus International Airport, he stated.

"We have been instructed to facilitate the return of any Bahraini citizens in Lebanon who wish to leave," Ambassador Sayyar said. "Their return will be arranged through Rafic Hariri International Airport on currently available flights."

He added, "If any developments arise and all flights are suspended at Rafic Hariri International Airport, we will work to ensure the return of Bahraini citizens from Beirut to Damascus by land, and then by air via Damascus International Airport."

Ambassador Sayyar emphasised that the number of Bahraini citizens in Lebanon is very limited and mostly consists of students, not tourists. He pointed out that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued warnings last October advising against travel to Lebanon due to the evolving situation in the region.

This comes as fears of an all-out war in the region are growing, fueled by escalating tensions between Israel and Hezbollah.

The situation escalated following a rocket attack that killed 12 young people in the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights.

Israel accused Hezbollah of carrying out the assault and retaliated with a rare strike on Beirut, which it claimed killed a top Hezbollah commander.
