The Bahrain Bar Association will hold a wide-ranging consultation meeting on Saturday to discuss the draft of the new Advocacy Law. The meeting will be attended by lawyers from across the country.
The association's president, Salah Al-Madfa, announced that the meeting will focus on the newly received draft law from the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments.
Al Madfa emphasized the importance of the meeting, urging all lawyers to participate in the discussion. He highlighted that the draft law is of great interest to all lawyers in the kingdom.
Al Madfa further confirmed that the draft law includes several positive aspects sought by the Bahrain Bar Association, including introducing an entrance exam for aspiring lawyers, making the wearing of a lawyer's robe mandatory, creating a new degree for appellate lawyers, introducing a mandatory code of conduct, eliminating the requirement of a Sharia law exam for lawyers studying abroad, criminalizing impersonation of a lawyer, and criminalizing verbal or physical assault against lawyers.
The Bahrain Bar Association believes that this draft law represents a significant step forward in enhancing the legal profession in Bahrain. The consultation meeting will be an opportunity for lawyers to voice their opinions and contribute to the finalization of the law.
