A recent report released by the Ministry of Interior has revealed a concerning trend in traffic accidents in Bahrain during June 2024. The report highlights a significant number of serious injuries and fatalities. The statistics reveal that 48% of traffic accidents in June resulted in severe injuries, while 43% caused minor injuries. Shockingly, 9% of accidents resulted in fatalities. The report further delves into the leading causes of these accidents, highlighting a significant number of traffic violations. Speeding violations accounted for 28% of all violations, followed by red light violations at 24%.
Violations
Improper parking accounted for 11% of violations, while failure to wear seatbelts contributed to 3% of violations. Additionally, 5% of violations were attributed to expired registration certificates, 1% to using mobile phones while driving, and 28% to other violations. The report also provides insights into the volume of traffic in the country. As of June 2024, there are 760,645 registered vehicles in use on the roads. Furthermore, the report highlights travel statistics through various entry points.
Passengers
The King Fahd Causeway witnessed a total of 2,887,927 passengers, with 1,431,932 arrivals and 1,445,995 departures. Bahrain International Airport recorded a total of 486,498 passengers, with 213,032 arrivals and 273,466 departures. Seaports saw a total of 3,582 passengers, with 1,912 arrivals and 1,670 departures. The report also details the response rate of emergency patrols during June 2024. The statistics show that 67% of calls received were for emergency response, 29% were for traffic-related incidents, and 4% were for security-related issues.
