The High Civil Court has awarded BD 8,000 in compensation to a 30-year-old man who sustained a 15% permanent disability in his foot due to a traffic accident caused by a 60-year-old driver in 2006.

The Civil Court ruled in favour of the plaintiff, citing the severity of his injuries and the negligence of the defendant.

According to lawyer Ali Mahfouz, representing the injured man, the accident resulted in significant damage to his client's right leg, including ankle pain, a forward bend in the leg, and foot deformation.

The court, relying on the report of a medical committee appointed in the case, confirmed that the plaintiff's injuries had worsened since the 2006 accident, making both the driver and his insurance company liable for compensation.

The medical report highlighted the plaintiff's ongoing pain and a slight deformation in his right leg due to improper bone healing, resulting in foot deviation and flattening. The committee estimated the permanent disability at 15% of the total.

The court awarded BD 7,000 to compensate for the aggravation of the injuries, acknowledging the nature of the injuries and the deformation in the right leg. Additionally, the court granted BD 1,000 in moral damages for the pain and suffering endured by the plaintiff, bringing the total compensation to BD 8,000.

The court ordered both the driver and his insurance company to pay the compensation jointly.
