In a bold move towards a greener future, Bahrain is embarking on a massive beautification and sustainability project, encompassing parks, promenades, and coastal areas across the Kingdom. The Ministry of Municipalities and Agriculture is spearheading this ambitious initiative, with a focus on enhancing public spaces and promoting environmental consciousness.
This initiative aims to revitalise public spaces, enhance recreational areas, and promote environmental consciousness.
The project encompasses four key regions: the Capital Governorate, Northern Governorate, Southern Governorate, and Muharraq. A total of 44 locations, including parks, promenades, and coastal areas, will undergo significant upgrades.
The project will see a complete overhaul of existing infrastructure in parks and promenades. Khalifa Al Kabeer Park will receive a comprehensive upgrade, including the installation of new play areas, fitness equipment, and landscaping. The Istiqlal park will feature new asphalt flooring, upgraded sports equipment, and smart lighting systems.
Meanwhile, the Hunayniyah Park will undergo a complete renovation, including the replacement of rubber flooring, the installation of new play areas, and the development of a new entrance area. King Faisal Corniche will see the installation of solar-powered lighting and the development of new recreational areas.
The Sitra Bridge Park will receive a complete makeover, including new flooring, upgraded sports equipment, and the installation of solar-powered lighting.
The project will also include the rehabilitation of the children's play area at the Al Ghus (diving) Park, the renovation of the Al Bayan Park, the development of the 935 Park, and the beautification of the Askar Coast.
The project emphasises sustainable practices for the Kingdom's coastline, including the use of recycled materials in construction and the installation of solar-powered lighting. The Ministry is embracing green technology by incorporating solar panels for energy generation and implementing water-efficient irrigation systems.
The ministry is actively seeking community input and encouraging participation in environmental initiatives. This collaborative approach ensures the project reflects the needs and aspirations of the Bahraini people.
The Ministry of Municipalities and Agriculture has already issued tenders for the project, with 11 companies vying for the contract. The project is expected to take between eight and forty months to complete, depending on the specific requirements.
This ambitious project signifies Bahrain's commitment to sustainability and its vision for a healthier, more vibrant environment for its citizens. The kingdom is setting a strong example for the region, demonstrating that economic progress and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.
This green revolution is poised to transform Bahrain's landscape, creating a legacy of beauty, sustainability, and community engagement for generations to come.
