As the world marks International Youth Day 2024, Bahrain stands out not only in its celebrations but also in its impressive economic strides.

MP Dr. Maryam Al Dhaen highlighted that this year’s event coincides with significant achievements in the Kingdom, with the real GDP rising by 3.3% and current GDP by 3.4% in the first quarter of 2024, compared to the same period last year.

Dr. Al Dhaen emphasised that these economic indicators reflect Bahrain’s robust recovery and sustainable growth, aligned with the visionary directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the dynamic leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Central to these accomplishments, she noted, are the vibrant and ambitious Bahraini youth, whose contributions have been pivotal.

Role

“International Youth Day underscores the essential role of youth in driving economic and social development,” Dr. Al Dhaen remarked.

“It is a moment to celebrate their contributions and recognise their efforts in bolstering the nation’s economy.”

She acknowledged the impact of initiatives led by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS).

These initiatives, coupled with the Ministry of Youth Affairs’ focus on youth empowerment, have catalyzed the dynamic involvement of Bahraini youth across various sectors, the MP stated.

Backbone

Bahraini youth, Dr. Al Dhaen noted, are the backbone of the nation’s sustainable development, demonstrating remarkable innovation and entrepreneurial spirit.

From launching startups and SMEs to driving technological advancements, young Bahrainis are not just participating in but leading the charge in economic diversification and job creation.

Their contributions extend across government and private sectors, fostering a culture of knowledge exchange and innovation that continues to elevate Bahrain’s global reputation, the MP said.

Digitisation

In the realm of technology, Bahraini youth excel in software development and digital transformation projects, spearheading efforts to expand the Kingdom’s digitisation.
