HRH CP & PM leads the Kingdom in welcoming Olympic heroes

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, lauded Bahrain’s remarkable achievements at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, underscoring the significant support and interest in the sports sector from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. HRH Prince Salman emphasised that this royal backing is the driving force behind Bahrain’s continued success on the international stage, as the Kingdom’s athletes proudly raise the national flag in local, regional, and international championships.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s remarks came during a special reception held yesterday at Sakhir Airport, where he welcomed His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), and the Team Bahrain.
Athletes
The athletes who represented Bahrain in Paris, include the winners of four Olympic medals — two golds, one silver, and one bronze: Winfred Yavi (gold medal in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase), Ahmed Tajuddin (gold medal in wrestling, 97 kg weight class), Salwa Eid Naser (silver medal in the women’s 400-metre race) and Gor Minasyan (bronze medal in weightlifting, over 201 kg).
The event was attended by His Excellency Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, along with other senior officials. HRH Prince Salman congratulated the athletes on their historic success at the Paris Olympics, noting that the royal directives and vision for the sports sector are a powerful incentive for all Bahrainis to strive for excellence and continue elevating Bahraini sports.

“We see in the members of Team Bahrain a love of challenge, a passion for achievement, and limitless ambition,” he said.
“We are proud of their determination to showcase the bright image of the Kingdom and enhance Bahrain’s reputation and standing at various levels.”
His Royal Highness also extended his congratulations to everyone who supported and encouraged the Bahraini team, both from within the Kingdom and from the wider Arab world. He acknowledged that these efforts contributed to the team’s outstanding results, which have significantly boosted the Arab world’s tally of achievements in Olympic and international competitions.
