A young woman, who was originally sentenced to six months in prison by a lower court for document forgery and improper financial gain, has been cleared of all charges by the High Court.
The higher court found no basis for the allegations against her, leading to a reversal of the lower court’s decision.
The case began when one of her project partners complained that she had forged a contract and submitted it to a civil court in an attempt to secure an unwarranted financial award.
The complainant claimed that she had already won a separate case granting her full entitlements and that she had filed another lawsuit to reclaim the same funds using the disputed document.
The lower court accepted these allegations, resulting in her conviction and sentence, which she subsequently appealed. Following a detailed examination of the civil case records, the High Criminal Court found no evidence to support the forgery claims.
Amounts It was determined that the amounts sought in both lawsuits were legitimate and supported by valid documents, with no indication of an attempt to claim funds twice.
The court also found no evidence of deceit or any motive for forging the contract. Consequently, the High Court overturned the initial verdict and cleared her of all charges.
Lawyer Ghadeer Al Aali, who represented the defendant, stated that the lower court had relied only on the statements of the complainant and their representative while overlooking all supporting documents.
